Chanthaburi Thailand

Known as the gem trading center since the 15th century, Chanthaburi has attracted a wide ethnic mix of people, a majority being Vietnamese refugees. It is another major eastern seaside province which has, played an important role in the history of the nation, both before and during the Rattanakosin (Bangkok) Period. It is wealthy and rich in natural resources, particularly gems, products from the sea, and tropical fruits, including Rambutans, Durians, Mangosteens and Langsads. It is also endowed with numerous national parks.

 

How to get here

By Bus

Both air and non air-conditioned buses leave from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai). Air-conditioned bused leave every hour, starting from 05.00-24.00 hrs. (0-2382-2097/8, 0-2391-8097). There are also buses that leave from the Morchit Bus Terminal, completing the trip in 3.10 hours.
