Thailand Meditation
Meditation, amidst a very modern environment, finds its niche to every Thai’s way of life. As it has been believed that through this, one can find his or her path to the true enlightenment by having a mindset that there is, indeed, suffering, causes of suffering, end of suffering, and finally the path to the end of suffering, which is the main core of Buddhism teaching.

In meditation, nowadays, one doesn’t need or even be interested to become a Buddhist in order to reap the benefits of this stress relieving techniques. The basic principle of meditation entails a very good mindset that is being practiced in one’s daily life. Concentration is the key to peace and calmness regardless of where the meditation is performed.
Buddhism meditation, to be more specific, has two main branches which are Samatha, for calmness and concentration; and Vipassana, for mindfulness or insight.
Samatha considers a lot of ancient techniques and some dates even before the founding of Buddhism. This includes mindfulness with breathing; mantra or words meditation to help mind focus; or kasinas, where a mediator uses other objects such as crystal ball and candle flame to direct concentration to. Meanwhile, Vipassana considers insights which include an awareness that of your own body movements such as basic as breathing, walking, to one’s feeling and state of mind. This technique entails more of a person’s introspection of his or her being that are usually done on a remote and peaceful venue.
International Buddhist Meditation Center, World Fellowship of Buddhist, Wat Mahathat, House of Dhamma (for Vipassana) Insight Mediatation Center are among the most popular place where meditation activities are being held. These are found on these destinations: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani.
